The cafeteria construction project is on schedule. The construction walls between the Patient Tower elevators & Orthopedics on the ground floor have been taken down. The alternate exit path signage from the elevator entrances and hallways has been removed.
Ground floor access to Orthopedics is now completely open.
The demolition phase is complete and construction has begun. Here are a few photos of where the construction process is currently:

I stopped by the construction site to get some photos of the renovation process today. Wow, it is being completely demolished and looks nothing like the old cafeteria. That being said, it also doesn’t look any better. However, I was told by Randy Kirbo, director of nutrition services, that we are in the demolition phase and that means everything is being torn down before they can build back up. What used to be our cafeteria is now “hard hat area only” and yes, I wore a hard hat (and no, there won’t be any photos of that to share). The construction is right on track and next week’s photos should start to show some of the new cafeteria coming through as the workers begin to build back up (new and improved!) what they’ve torn down.

Starting Nov. 24 and going through to Dec. 16, temporary construction walls will be in place between the Orthopedic Unit airlock and Patient Tower Elevators B on Ground Floor. Please avoid using Elevators B to access Ground Floor, and instead exit on Lower Level during this time.
The interim cafeteria has officially been in use for one week and has been well received by customers, meeting our temporary need while renovation of the new cafeteria is completed. The Garden Café has also done an excellent job in adjusting to the additional business and seating capacity.
In order to maintain a high level of service and quality in our food service at Pardee we will be making a change in the service hours as of Tuesday, Nov. 9.

The interim cafeteria is now open for business as renovations begin on the Pardee cafeteria. Current hours of operation for the interim cafeteria are 6:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. The interim cafeteria is located in the Education Classroom on the ground floor of the hospital (please look for directional signage) or ask a Pardee staff member or Auxiliary member to direct you.
The Garden Café is also open for dining and has extended their seating area to accommodate the larger lunch crowds. The Pardee Auxiliary operates the Garden Café Snack Shop, which offers a variety of selections from breakfast to sandwiches to salads. Snack food items are also available. It is located on the 1st floor on the Fleming Street side of the hospital. The Garden Café is open Monday – Friday: 8:30 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. and Saturday: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Pardee Cafeteria renovation is ready to begin.
Effective Friday, October 29, the beginning phases of the Cafeteria Renovation will begin. Please note the upcoming schedule affecting food service within the hospital campus.

Beginning in November, the cafeteria will be moving forward with a much anticipated renovation project. The project will consist of demolition of the existing facility, adding two new service areas to include a full service grill, offering fresh, hot and cold sandwich specials as well as additional healthy options. There will also be a special cook to order International menu selection offered on a regular basis. Many great new services and a pleasant, modern atmosphere will be available at the conclusion of the project. The project is due to be complete around the beginning of February.
During this renovation process there will be some operational changes to allow for construction. An interim cafeteria service will be offered in the Education Classroom located on the hospital’s ground floor. The Garden Café will also be available for expanded service. Check back regularly for additional updates regarding the renovation progress on the Pardee Blog and Nutrition Services site.
