Pardee Hospital Foundations offers Meet The CEO at Lake Point Landing

Monday, January 30th, 2012

More than 90 people turned out for the Meet the CEO event at the Lake Pointe Landing retirement community in Hendersonville on Jan. 23 to hear Pardee Hospital CEO, Jay Kirby, discuss Pardee Hospital’s plans for continued success in the ever-changing health care climate.

Pardee Hospital Foundation board members and staff welcomed Lake Pointe Landing residents and shared complementary educational materials with attendees before and after Jay Kirby’s presentation.

Highlights of Kirby’s presentation included:

  • Pardee Hospital’s latest accolade as the only hospital in North Carolina to receive ISO (International Organization for Standards) Certification for its top quality standards. Pardee is one of only 40 hospitals in the U.S. that has earned this distinction.
  • Discussion of the community benefits Pardee provides – a payroll of $74 million, annual revenues of more than $132 million, $9 million in uncompensated care, $10.1 million in unreimbursed care, Henderson County’s largest employee giving campaign to United Way and more.
  • An overview of the hospital’s recent community partnerships including the approved Mission Pardee Health Campus in Fletcher and the services Pardee provides through Blue Ridge Community Health Services to underserved patients in Henderson County.

Lake Pointe Landing graciously treated attendees to punch, wine and cheese during the event.

Kirby wrapped up his presentation with a question and answer session.  Debbie Patrick, Pardee Foundation’s director of development and donor relations, and Lake Pointe Landing residents Dana Carpenter, a Pardee Hospital Auxiliary member and grateful patient, thanked the group for attending.  Twenty attendees signed up for one of Pardee Foundation’s popular, by invitation only, Making Rounds tours before leaving.

Meet the CEO receptions are sponsored by Pardee Foundation’s Generations of Excellence Committee, chaired by Rich Cooke and Greg Burnette.

Pardee Hospital Foundation offers Making Rounds

Wednesday, January 25th, 2012

It was another grand opportunity to visit Pardee through Pardee Hospital Foundation’s Making Rounds Tour where eight members of our community recently toured the hospital, starting first thing in the operating room.

Drs. Das and Mackel were generous in their time to share with our guests the orthopedic surgeries they were performing.  Joe and Eileen from the day surgery crew also provided excellent information on processes in the surgical suites, the equipment the Foundation helped purchase, and data on Pardee’s low infection rates.  Our guests also visited the new Comprehensive Wound Center to see the new hyperbaric chambers.  Paul explained how oxygen therapy works and the types of patients who can benefit.

“I really liked observing surgery and the willingness of the staff to impart information to us,” said Ann N., one of the participants.

If you would like to participate in an upcoming Making Rounds tour, please contact the Foundation office at (828) 696-4666.
